He cares about the little things

Lei day revisited: just over a month ago I wrote a blog about the difficulty of the family being separated by the Pacific Ocean (plus quite a lot of ground as well). It is not just big holidays and celebrations that I notice the pain, but it’s also the less glamorous moments. One event I did lament missing was the Hawaiian celebration of Lei Day or presently called May Day. It is a pageant that highlights the culture and the end of the school year.
This year our Maui vacation landed just in time to be a part of May Day. It blessed my soul tremendously to see my lineage shine in their perspective dances. There is a swelling up in my heart when I soak in the splendor of my grandchildren.
It reminds me that my Heavenly Father cares about the little things in my life. The blessing of everyday activity to grow my relationships. Especially the most crucial ones; my husband, my family, and my community. It is all a part of growing in Christ like love.
If my heart aches to see my grandchildren thrive in love and joy, how much more does my Father who created me desire for me to be enriched and blessed in this life. God is about blessing his children with good gifts, because he loves us. And it’s the everyday blessing I do not want to miss.
Happy Honeymooning!
