Making a human being out of a human doing

Making a human being out of a human doing. I struggle in this area mightily. I am very productivity motivated. I am a list maker and find absolute joy in checking off the boxes. Accomplishing tasks brings such a sense of value for me. But we are not designed to live in an endless loop of tasks. I need to get back to who I am in Christ and my inherent value as the image of God.
In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve are set in charge of the creation. “God blessed them; and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”” (Genesis 1:28) This job was meant to be a blessing. God placed them in the garden to continue building in the manner which He had begun. To learn and live within but over the environment in which Adam and Eve found themselves. Not to be slaves and servants to their surroundings, but to utilize and bring fruit from it.
While the activities of a human doing may look like we are living up to that charge, the mindset is very different. If I value myself by what I do instead of the fact that I am the image of my creator, then I miss the reason I was created for in the first place. God needs nothing from me, He is omnipotent. The fulfillment of my calling is to grow me and to allow me to be more in His image as I participate in the work at hand.
If a day comes, due to injury or illness or age, that I am unable to “do” what I once did, am I less fruitful in God’s plan? Not if I cling fast to my true identity. I am created in the Image of my Heavenly Father, and called to live in the blessing in which He has set me, to reflect His creative essence.
If you feel stuck in the cycle of valuing yourself because of your works, take a moment and look at the blessing your Father intends for you to live in. You are loved and worthy just by being you!
Happy Honeymooning!
Genesis 1:26 Let us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.
