Prosperity gospel. That’s right, I went there. There is so much positioning on all sides of this doctrine. The belief emphasizes that Christians are to be wealthy and healthy in this life and through eternity.

I know for a fact God has great plans for me. (Jeremiah 29:11) I know that I am the head and not the tail. (Deuteronomy 28:13 ) But what is the prosperity that best brings the Kingdom of God here on earth?

God works all things for good for those who love him. (Romans 8:28) But is there a way to live yielded to the Holy Spirit and keeping our minds on the things of heaven that bring about God’s will in our lives and his purpose in our souls? Yes!

Paul is a great example of this. (of course Jesus is the perfect example) Paul in his letters to the Philippians, lays out a prosperity mindset that reflects the heart of Jesus. That is not to look at what is and isn’t happening here on this earth, temporal treasures, (Matthew 6:19) but to look at God’s kingdom advancement might be in every situation. I mean, a good Father blesses his children, so my wants and needs here on Earth are automatically his desire to fulfill.

If I am walking by the power of the Spirit then what happens in the circumstances of my life are far less impactful than the eternal outcome that will be received. God will, for my benefit, withhold Earthly treasures to steer me to greater riches. I cannot possibly know from my limited vantage point what the highest outcome is. I know in part (1 Corinthians 13:12).

As I look to God as my heavenly Father, I need to posture my heart in thanksgiving and praise, because he is good. Because he always wants the very best for me, not just ok. If I truly yield to his authority I am able to be content and even grateful no matter what the circumstance. (Philippians 4: 12) Money is merely a training ground for my heart to be positioned toward heaven.

Happy Honeymooning!

Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
